Jemima Kirke was born April 26, 1985, in London (England, UK) in the family of drummer Simon Kirke and Lorraine Kirke (Dellal), the owner of the vintage boutique Gominola, which provided clothing for the series “Sex and the City.”
Although Jemima was born in England, she grew up in New York. While studying at the St. Anne School in Brooklyn, Kirke met and became friends with Lena Dunham.
In 2010, Jemima played the role of Charlotte in the film of the girlfriend-director Lena, “Tiny Furniture.” Kirke starred in the movie for free.
Jemima is known for the role as Jessa Johansson on the television series “Girls” (2012-2017) also directed by Lena Dunham.
