The video-sharing social network site TikTok has announced three hundred and seventy-five MILLION dollars in coronavirus relief! In a blog post, company president Alex Zhu detailed the donation, which includes money for medical staffing, supplies, and hardship relief for healthcare workers. Funds will also be provided to local organizations serving, among others, musicians, artists, and educators. TikTok will also offer a hundred million dollars in ADVERTISING credits to small and medium-sized businesses. Good for them!
And then there’s Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire owner of the NBA’s Houston Rockets. He raised more than a few eyebrows after telling Fox News that he was doing his employees a FAVOR when he laid off forty-five thousand of them. He claimed that the speedy layoffs mean they’re, quote, “first to the unemployment line”. I’d say if he wanted to do them a “favor”, he could use some of his estimated four point eight BILLION net worth to keep them paid and insured for a while. I know, that’s just crazy talk.
And according to French police, a trio of foreign billionaires, and their trio of alleged ESCORTS, were booted from France for breaking the country’s lockdown rules. The group arrived on a seven thousand dollar an hour private jet, en route to a sixty-two thousand dollar a night luxury villa on the French Riviera. One of them claimed they were on an important business trip, but authorities weren’t swayed. The group never even made it off the plane. Guess it’s true – money doesn’t buy brains! Don’t go away!
