Hello, everyone, I’m Eila Adams, welcome to Naked News! The effect the coronavirus is having on the world is unprecedented. And here’s something that’s true about every crisis: it brings out the best in people, and it brings out the worst in people. Madison’s got three examples of the latter, right now in the Naked Newsroom.
The Justice Department has taken its first enforcement action against coronavirus-related fraud. Specifically, it’s secured a temporary restraining order against the operators of “coronavirusmedicalkit, com.” The scam site was offering consumers World Health Organization vaccine kits… which of course don’t exist! To be clear, there ISN’T a COVID-19 vaccine yet, and experts aren’t expecting one for at least a year! The DoJ also noted “an investigation of the website and its operators continues”… and I hope the justice they get is both swift and poetic!
A county commissioner from Florida has had to apologize after ridiculous comments he made about the coronavirus went, well, viral. Now, we’re going to show you a clip, but listen to me closely: WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO HEAR IS NOT TRUE! Cut to Bryant Culpepper of Okeechobee County taking to Facebook and apologizing for that ridiculousness, adding, quote, “I will not offer any more suggestions unless they are tried and proven.” Amen to that!
And finally, here’s evidence Canadians can be bad people too. A couple from British Columbia is in the middle of a social media fire storm after buying up a grocery store’s ENTIRE meat section. Video of the two at the Save On Foods checkout with multiple carts loaded to the brim with meat has many upset, and the couple is now reportedly getting death threats! I get the anger, but remember people: two wrongs don’t make a right… and tofu CAN be delicious! Just saying. Now I’ll send you back to Eila Adams with MORE Naked News.
